I realise now, that I didn't sign up for a three year degree. I signed up for three years of preparation that would grow with me as the months, and God willing, years go by in ministry.

On Thursday 22nd March 2018 the Irish Baptist Historical Society welcomed Stafford Carson, Principal and Professor of Ministry at Union Theological College, Belfast, to deliver a paper on the Synod of Dort. The event, which took place in the Baptist Centre, was entitled 5 areas where Christians disagree, the continuing relevance of the Canons of Dort 2018 is the 400th anniversary of the Synod of Dort, an international assembly convened by the Reformed Church of the Netherlands. The Synod was called to settle a divisive theological controversy initiated by the rise of the views represented by the followers of Jacobus Arminius. This clarified what has subsequently become known as the five points of Calvinism. Dr Carson examined the debate in its historical and theological context.
