This course of post-graduate study, validated by the University of Chester { www.chester.ac.uk/trs }, is specially designed for in-service completion for those in ministry/mission and secular vocations.  The course is constructed to allow students flexibility in personal organisation of their studies.  It is normally offered part-time over a total of three years.

The course comprises five taught modules plus a research dissertation of 20,000 words.

To gain entry students will normally require a relevant undergraduate degree.  However relevant ministry experience can also be taken into account.

The MA requires 180 course credits however a student may exit with a Post Graduate Certificate (60 credits) or a Post graduate Diploma (120 credits).

This is a professional doctoral programme, validated by the University of Chester { www.chester.ac.uk/trs }, for those in ministry leading to:

  • the development of expertise in a particular aspect of theology and/or ministry;
  • the development of new approaches to pastoral ministry;
  • the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the understanding and practice of ministry through the completion of a major research project.

The programme is offered part-time.

The programme can be represented as having three stages:

  • Stage 1A. Level 7 - Theological Preparation and Reflection (120 credits)
  • Stage 1B. Level 8 - Researching the practice of ministry (120 credits)
  • Stage 2. Level 8 - Thesis (300 credits)

Students may be offered exemption from some of stage 1A if they have already completed a relevant master's degree and have professional experience.  Students commencing the course without exemptions normally require 6 years to complete the course.

The College also offers the MPhil and PhD research degrees through either Queens's University or University of Chester { www.chester.ac.uk/trs }

In addition the Master of Theology is offered through Queen's University Belfast {www.qub.ac.uk/schools/InstituteofTheology}.
